Below are some of the ways scammers have been known to defraud individuals seeking work at home employment.


Equipment Purchase - Any job or business opportunity that requires the purchase of special equipment or software.  Things like credit card processing terminals or special software.

Unsolicited Job Offers - Job offers from strangers that you didn't request or companies you have not submitted an application to.  These are usually an attmept to get you to hand over personal information that will be used for identity theft.

Advance Payments - Any job where you will recieve payment in advance which is usally in the form of a money order for an amount greater than your compensation for the work and requires you to return the excess funds to the employer.

Wire Transfer - An opportunity that involves sending a small fee such as enrollment or processing fee via wire transfer to a foreign country.  



The bottom line is if its too good to be true it usually is and any job that requires an out of pocket expense is most likely not legitimate.
